With Ease

Childlike she walks into the room,
Shy, conscious of every step.
A beating heart; trembling hands,
A chill that fills her.

A crowd of eyes descend upon her.
Figuring her out, glasses no longer clink.
Who is she? Why is she here?
They stand entranced, interested and glaring.

The air is now heavy.
The space is filled with murmurs.
Cracks and creeks sound each step.
All this over the chime of keys and strings.

She settles upon a face.
Kind and adoring,
Its warmth encourages smile.
It inspires comfort and confidence.

He turns to her, strong and fearless.
Hello, said without a word.
A kiss, placed without an action.
An embrace, given without a care.
